About PoolGearGuide

PoolGearGuide started with a simple observation: buying pool gear is a surprisingly expensive guessing game, and most of the "review" sites ranking for pool searches have clearly never read the manual of anything they recommend.

What we do

We research pool products the way an obsessive friend would: reading the actual spec sheets and manuals, comparing warranty terms line by line, and looking for patterns across thousands of verified owner reports. Then we write it up in plain English, with the tradeoffs named, so you can decide in minutes instead of weekends.

We cover:

  • Robotic pool cleaners — the category with the biggest price range and the most marketing fog.
  • Above-ground pools — where ground prep and the included pump matter more than the brochure.
  • Maintenance and water chemistry — test kits, chemicals, and the boring weekly loop that keeps water safe.

Plus free calculators for the math your pool keeps assigning you.

What we don't do

We don't claim testing we didn't do (details in how we review), we don't invent specs or prices, and we don't let affiliate commissions pick winners (affiliate disclosure).

Who runs PoolGearGuide

Luke Ferguson

Founder & Editor, PoolGearGuide

Luke Ferguson is the founder and editor of PoolGearGuide. He started the site after one too many afternoons lost to pool-gear research that went nowhere — spec sheets that buried the number that mattered, review sites that had clearly never opened a manual, and prices that made guessing expensive. His approach is simple and stated plainly on every page: read the actual documentation, warranties, and thousands of verified owner reports, then write it up in plain English with the tradeoffs named. He's upfront about what the site has and hasn't tested hands-on, never invents specs or prices, and doesn't let an affiliate commission move a score.
